I love going to the movies, no secret there. And it's SO cheep going to the movies over here when you're a student. Compared to Denmark. It's going to be a challenge not to go too often :)
2 weeks ago I ended up going 3 times. Yay. And what is the odds that they all turned out to be good.
I went with my flatmates to see House at the End of the Street. I've wanted to see a scary movie in the theatre for a long time, so this was the chance. I ended up hiding behind my popcorns.. Actually I thought that the end seemed to be given from the beginning, but I was surprised.
The story is about a mom and daughter that moves in to a house that's been empty for years 'cause the neighbour house have a haunted history. The girl ends up going out with the boy that lives in the house, who has more than one secret.
It's not the most original story, but the end does give it a twist and makes it more interesting. Jennifer Lawrence (from the Hunger Games) does a good job in this movie, and it is a really well made movie.
On Wednesdays it's "Orange Wednesday" where you get a free ticket if you buy one. Just like Telia have it in Denmark. So I convinced my flatmates that it was a good idea to go see Now is Good. And it was good! I don't want to say to much, but all of us were crying when the lights turned on. The movie shows another side of a more vulnerable subject without being too sad, but still staying real. You really connect with the characters - and that needs the scriptwriter and the actors really some credits for. It is definitely a movie I think everybody should see if they get the opportunity!
Thursday night the theatre on Belmont Street had a free pre-premiere of The Perks Of Being a Wallflower - I Love this movie. It is the perfect mix of fun, serious, pretty pictures and a great storyline. At one point I laughed so hard I started to cry. The story is so original that a critic should give a star just for that. Have to say that this is one of the movies you have to see as well. It is just that great. Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin) really is one to watch. He's still one of the new actors, but I believe we will see a lot more of him in the future. But they really do a great job, all of them. I don't feel I can describe the movie good enough without saying too much, so I'll give you the link for the trailer here.
